What’s going on at RYC™…..

About a month ago, representatives from more than 15 schools across the Greater Toronto Area met at Starbucks on Avenue road, and rocked the entire second floor of the store. On the agenda, you ask? Toronto’s Next Big Cause on Campaign 2012. These brilliant teens took the wheel to make a difference in the lives of others by applying to be Cause representatives at their schools, amongst their peers, and in their communities… they were hand picked by us for their ingenuity and initiative.
When it came down to choosing the which cause the proceeds of the sale would go to, we all put our heads together and decided to go about this decision in a democratic way… we decided to leave it in the hands of the people involved. A brainstorm session took place and as a result a new Rock Your Cause™ initiative was underway. Together we decided on 10 causes that were important to us and over the next week all of us voted on our top 3 causes. From 10 we narrowed it down to five based on internal votes and we were ready to make the vote public. A poll was placed on our Facebook page, and reps encouraged their friends and families to vote for the cause that was most important to them.
After a rigorous week of campaigning and voting, the results are in. With over 200 votes, SickKids Hospital will be the beneficiary of Toronto’s Next Big Cause on Campus 2012. Keep tuned in to see what’s going down!
